Sold into Slavery Yaqui Indians by the Mexican Government about the same time of her husbands hanging never to be seen again..

The Yaqui or Yoeme are Native Americans who inhabit the valley of the Río Yaqui in the Mexican state of Sonora and the Southwestern United States, .... By 1908, at least 5,000 Yaqui had been sold into forced slavery. ... shipped to San Blas, where they were forced to walk over 200 miles to San Marcos and its train station. We are related to the surviving children of Lucio and Anastasia

We have all heard the story of how our family survived  :
Maria Hernandez b. 1894 Nogalez AZ.  and Baltizar Verdugo they were young when they were enslaved. She watch her father hung and her mother  sold..  and with the help of Baltizar Verdugo they escaped into Sinaloa Culiacan  walking 949 miles to freedom. Eventually they married in 1917 Culiacan , Sinaloa Mex. and started a family.

Traveling from parts of mexico and the US. trying to keep there family alive. They had 18 children only 7 servived.
