There was a time in our history when leprosy was believed to be a highly contagious disease—so contagious that patients were moved into forced isolation from the general population.  About 450 of them lived in a facility in Carville, Louisiana. Residents referred to themselves as the “secret people.”  Along with  Criminal’s latest episode features the story of the "secret people," and the short period in which they shared their home with 500 criminals.  For almost 100 years, Carville was home to people like Candy. People were brought there around the turn of the century, most part kidnapped and against their will by the US government. The patients of Carville were eventually offered release. However, some people, decided to stay. some were buired on the grounds. and never reported to the town register or the police. this is the case of Candy.. Murdered at Carvill.  stabbed to death by a Cuban inmate.. The number of wounds was never an issue and to them neither was her life.  She died in agonizing pain and suffering.. Placed in a room in the hospital for three day away from the other patients without medical attention she succumbed to her death.  Sentenced to death for not being white.

Candy was a not just murdered by an inmate she was also murdered by the doctor's and Staff.
Inmates and patient should have never been able to associate>  Murdered at 34 years old and her children placed in an orphanage.
